Detox Crockpot Cabbage Soup

Hi guys! I am back from a week long vacation in Sea Isle City, NJ… and let me just tell you… all I did was eat, drink, and spend a lot of time just sitting on my butt with my family. It is always so nice to sit and relax, snack all day, with a nice, cold drink in your hand… but coming back from all that is very tough. Not only was I a few pounds over my normal weight but I also came back with a nasty summer cold! I can’t complain though… because our vacations are the best and only happens once a year where everyone is together.

So let me get into it…our week started off getting back on track and having a little bit of a detox day! Nothing better than fighting a cold off and at the same time cleaning out my body! Check out my Detox Crockpot Cabbage Soup below….

  • 1 package of baby carrots (you can cut these or keep whole)
  • 1 package of frozen green beans
  • 3 stalks of celery
  • 2 onions
  • 1 head of Cabbage
  • 1 can of red kidney beans (I used 2 because my family loves beans)
  • 1 28oz. can of crushed tomatoes
  • 3 cups of beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 3-4 pinches of salt & peper (fit to your own tastings)

So because this is an easy crockpot recipe, I will just write in the paragraph what to do – add all of the chopped vegetables… carrots, celery, green beans, and onions.


After this, rinse and drain the kidney beans in a seperate bowl and then add them to the crockpot with the chopped up cabbage.

Next, add in the can of crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and the water. Then add spices and mix it up. I cooked this on high for 5 hours – basically until the carrots were tender and then just kept it on warm so it wasn’t cold before we ate it.

And that is all you have to do! It is quite a simple but HEALTHY type of dinner that will (not kidding) clean out all the toxins and also, help with a nasty summer cold! This is also amazing as leftovers for the week or even if you want to freeze this for a later date, it is a good freezer type of meal too. Since I will be doing a lot of traveling coming up…the soon to be husband always loves having freezer meals already prepared for him when I am gone.

Other things to add to soup: you could throw this over noodles of your choice, you could add some hot sauce to make it a little spicier, you could try it with vegetable stock instead of beef, you could try it without the water for a thicker type of “chili” soup… and lastly, you could try and add some Worcestershire Sauce.

Easy Monday Dinner

Hi guys! Coming at you with an easy quick Monday dinner that we just had.. so I am currently very full but also very excited to share this easy meal with you! Tonight, we had a lot of wedding planning, financials, and all that jazz to go over so it was so nice to have a YUMMY meal that didn’t take all day to cook. I made some TBLTs (Turkey Bacon Lettuce & Tomato) with some homemade Mac N Cheese with stewed Tomatoes! MMMM!

So I will first start with the stewed tomatoes because this was the easiest.. I normally make these homemade but today I went with the canned stewed tomatoes and spiced it up (just a tad). I warmed the tomatoes on the oven and then once bubbling hot – I threw in a tablespoon of flour to get a thicker consistency. After that, I then added a teaspoon of sugar just to get a sweeter taste… this was by far the easiest part of the whole dish (because I used a can…) But ok… next with my homemade Mac N Cheese recipe! I love experimenting with different cheeses so I never have the same outcome everytime. So here we go with this easy recipe…

  • 1 box of elbow macaroni pasta
  • 2 cups of Milk (I used whole)
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 1 block (OR MORE) of cheddar cheese – Today, I used a block of sharp Cheddar and a half block of Pepper Jack with a handful of shredded Mozzerella
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  2. Cook pasta according to directions on the box
  3. Heat Milk in microwave for a minute or so – it needs to be warm!
  4. Melt butter over the oven. Once melted slowly put flour into the melted butter (WHISKING) so it creates a RUE.
  5. Once the rue is a smooth consistency, then slowly pour in your warm milk continuing to whisk it while pouring.
  6. After that is starting to look fully mixed, add in all your cheese and allow it to melt while whisking.
  7. Once pasta is cooked, dump into a 9×13 greased pan (I used non-stick spray)
  8. Then once all the cheese is melted – pour it over the pasta in the pan and then mix so all noodles are evenly covered.
  9. Then add salt & peper to taste to the top
  10. Then bake in over for 20 miutes!
I added a cheese blend to the top as well! Sometimes you can add bread crumbs, crackers, bacon, etc!

After this cooked for 20 minutes, then I started my Turkey Bacon in the oven. I just lined a cookie sheet with tin foil then placed Bacon on top. I put the oven on broil and moved the rack to the top so the Bacon was closer for a nice CRUNCHY piece of Bacon. It really depends on your oven for how long you cook Bacon. Mine took about 8 minutes for it to turn crispy from the broil cooking method. I would recommend keeping the oven light on so you can keep an eye on it because cooking it this way could turn to pieecs of burnt Bacon quick!

I then just cut up some tomatoes and letuce to complete off my TBLT sandwiches… I used a beef tomato and some Romaine lettuce!


So that is all we had tonight for dinner. We ate in about ten minutes and my soon to be husband had two plates which always makes me feel good! I never know what to make on nights we have a lot to get done and feel bad not making dinner for him!
